How to participate in the Webinar
The Webinar is a combined slideshow and conference call, which requires that you have access via phone and via Internet connection. For the audio part of the Webinar:

Pre-Webinar advice
To participate in the Webinar, it is important that you:

Test your access before the Webinar
Follow these steps to ensure a successful connection to the event:

  1. It is vital that you test your computer and browser for readiness prior to the online Webinar. To do this, run the Wizard at:
    http://wested2.wimba.com/wizard/launcher.cgi?wc=wms

    One common problem is that Wimba Classroom provides a chat feature and some schools, districts, and County Offices of Education use firewalls that block chat. If this is true for you, check with your Information Technology (IT) department.

    Another common problem some participants encounter is a web browser with its pop-up blocker turned on. If your pop-up blocker is turned on, when you go to the URL above, click the “options” button in the upper right hand corner and select “allow for pop-ups for 67.202.209.237.” Click “refresh/reload” and this will take you to the Wizard.

  2. After you have successfully run the Wizard, follow the directions below. If you have problems with login, please contact your IT department and ask them to open the port to this secure site.
    1. After you have run the Wizard, go to: http://wested2.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=CARacetotheTop
    2. Use the participant login that reads, “If you were NOT provided a password for this presentation, please enter your name here:”
    3. Type your name only (please note: no password is used); hit enter.
      4. You will then be placed in the room where it reads, “Welcome to CA Race to the Top Room."

How to access the Webinar the day of the live event
Follow these steps to ensure a successful connection to the event:

  1. Please logon 15 minutes in advance of the session start time.
  2. If you have run the Wizard, go to the Webinar room at: http://wested2.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=CARacetotheTop
  3. Use the participant login that reads, “If you were NOT provided a password for this presentation, please enter your name here.”
  4. Type your name only (please note: no password is used); hit enter.
  5. You will then reach the event space that reads, “Welcome to CA Race to the Top Room."

Operated Assisted Conference call
Everyone one needs to call into the operated assisted conference call as the audio for this event is via the phone. If you have technical issues and/or prefer a low-tech option, you may attend the event via conference call only. Request a copy of the Webinar slideshow from info@caracetothetop.org. At the time of the event, call the toll-free conference call participant number:

Technical difficulties
If you have problems accessing the live online event, please call in to the conference call number and follow along with the PDF of the slideshow. This will ensure that there is no delay to your participation in the Webinar. If you would like a copy of the Webinar slideshow please email info@caracetothetop.org. If you join in this mode during the event you will be able to email questions by sending an email to: eventhelp@wested.org.

Additional assistance
If you have special access needs (e.g., you have a hearing impairment and need alternative access for the audio), please let us know ASAP so we can make the appropriate arrangements. Please contact eventhelp@wested.org 24 hours before the Webinar to ensure timely assistance.

If you are unable to participate in the live event, materials for the Webinar archive will be posted following the live event on the “California Race to the Top” website.
